California Privacy Rights

Scope

This notice describes GenderAPI practices and the rights that may be available to California residents under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA.

Categories of Information

Depending on how you use the Service, GenderAPI may process identifiers and account/contact information, billing-related information, technical Site-use information, API query inputs, and data contained in files you choose to upload.

Use and Retention

Information is used to provide and maintain the Service, manage accounts and purchases, respond to support requests, meet legal obligations and improve GenderAPI.

Successful API query inputs are not stored, and email queries are never stored. Unresolved non-email queries may be retained for up to 12 months for product improvement. Excel and CSV files are deleted within five days or immediately when the User chooses deletion after export.

Account data is retained while an account is active and is deleted or irreversibly anonymized within 30 days after closure or an approved deletion request, unless an exception applies. Support communications may be retained for 24 months after closure; security and technical logs for 90 days; and billing or transaction records for up to seven years where needed for accounting, tax, chargeback or fraud-prevention obligations.

Data removed from active systems may remain in access-restricted rolling backups for up to 30 additional days. A longer period applies only where required by law or necessary for a legal claim, fraud inquiry or security investigation. The complete category schedule appears in the Privacy Policy.

No Sale or Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising

GenderAPI does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. GenderAPI therefore does not require a sale-or-sharing opt-out to prevent a practice it does not perform.

This statement does not describe a service provider acting on GenderAPI’s behalf as a sale or cross-context advertising disclosure. Account, payment, support, security and consent-based analytics information may be disclosed to service providers only as necessary for the relevant business purpose. GenderAPI query inputs, Excel or CSV file contents, and Google Sheets data are not disclosed to those providers.

Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or valid legal process, or to protect Users, GenderAPI or the public. See Information Disclosures and Service Providers for the applicable categories.

California Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable conditions and exceptions, California residents may request to know, access, delete or correct personal information, opt out of sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service without discrimination for exercising privacy rights. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law.
